Your details, and what happens to them

SmetMan.Amsterdam is responsible for the personal details you share through this website. Questions about this page, or about your own details? hello@smetman.amsterdam.

If you sign up for the newsletter, we collect your email address and whether you marked yourself as a founding member.

If you send in a story or a request through one of the forms, we collect your name, your email address and whatever you write in the form yourself, such as the artist, the instrument or the story behind it.

We don't ask for anything beyond that.

To send you the newsletter you signed up for, and to reply to what you sent in. That is all we use it for.

The legal basis is your consent for the newsletter, and our legitimate interest in answering people who contact us.

This website doesn't use tracking or advertising cookies, and it doesn't run visitor statistics. That's why you don't get a cookie banner here. If that ever changes, this page changes with it and you'll be asked for permission first.

What you submit through a form is sent straight to our own mailbox, which runs on Google Workspace. The form itself is handled by Cloudflare, which passes the message along without keeping it. The website is built and hosted for us by MegaSiteDeal.

We never sell your details, and we don't share them for anyone else's advertising.

Newsletter signups stay on the list until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you. Messages you send in stay in the mailbox as long as they're relevant to what you asked.

You can ask to see what we have on you, to correct it, or to delete it. Mail hello@smetman.amsterdam and we'll sort it out. If you think we've handled your details badly, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
